Space X has brought 2 astronauts from a historic mission.
The first astronauts to travel into orbit aboard a commercially developed spacecraft -- Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley -- returned home on a splashdown mission on Sunday(August 2nd, 2020), the first one in America for 45 years.
The astronauts had been onboard the ISS(International Space Station) for two months, after arriving there from the Space
X Crew Dragon from Kennedy Space Station. Their spacecraft was named Endeavour.
"For the most part, we've had pretty good luck with, with Endeavour," Hurley said. "As far as on-orbit testing is performed, just like it did for launch and rendezvous. So we expect nothing different for the splashdown."
Just as Hurley said, the splashdown was a success despite the Hurricane Isais, the strongest hurricane since Hurricane Rita in 2005. Both crew members were unhurt and rescued promptly after their splashdown.
45년 만의 해상 착륙 이벤트…미 우주비행사 지구 귀환

나사의 역사적인 스페이스 X 미션을 마치고 두 명의 우주 비행사가 지구에 무사히 돌아왔습니다. 로버트 벤켐과 더글라스 헐리는 지난 8월 2일 첫 민간 우주선인 ‘크루 드래건’을 타고, 플로리다 해변에 착륙했습니다. 이것은 미국 45년 우주비행 역사상 최초의 우주선 해상 착륙입니다.
두 명의 우주비행사들은 케네디 우주 정거장에서 스페이스 X 크루 드래건을 타고 우주로 나간 후, 국제우주정거장에서 2달을 머문 후 무사히 지구로 돌아온 것입니다. 그들이 탄 우주선의 이름은 인데버(Endeavour)였는데, 두 우주 비행사 중 한사람인 더글라스 헐리는 다음과 같이 말했습니다. “우리가 운이 참 좋았다고 생각합니다. 우주선 인데버로 궤도 시험을 했던 것과 조금의 차질없이 해상착륙을 할 수 있었어요!”
이번 해상 착륙이 더욱 뜻 깊은 이유는 이 착륙이 허리케인 이사이아스(2005년 허리케인 리타 후 가장 강력한 허리케인)가 플로리다 해변을 강타하는 상황에서도 성공했기 때문입니다. 두 우주 비행사는 착륙 직후 구조되어 무사히 육지로 도착하며 역사적인 우주선 해상 착륙을 성공시켰습니다.
